A mummichog is a small kind of fish that lives in saltwater, like the ocean or in marshy areas near the shore. They are brown, green or gray colored and have big eyes, a round body, and a pointy nose. They can grow up to around 4 inches long but most are smaller than that.
Mummichogs are really cool because they can survive in water that has different levels of saltiness. Sometimes, they even swim in water that is really salty like the ocean, and other times they swim in less salty water in like marshes. They also eat a lot of different things like small crustaceans and insects, and even algae and mud!
Sometimes, people catch mummichogs for fun or to use as bait when fishing for bigger fish. But, it is important to make sure that when we catch them we release them back into the water so they can keep living their little fishy lives!
