Mundu

Mundu is a traditional piece of cloth which people wear around their waist in the state of Kerala, in India. It is usually worn by men, but women also wear it sometimes.

To understand mundu, imagine a big piece of cloth, like a bedsheet. This cloth is usually made of cotton, which is soft and comfortable to wear. The mundu is folded in half, lengthwise, and then wrapped around the waist. The two ends of the mundu are tucked into the waistband, creating a skirt-like garment that covers the lower body.

Mundu comes in different colors and patterns. Some are plain and simple, while others have intricate designs or embroidery. Mundu can be worn for many occasions, from everyday wear to special events like weddings or festivals.

The mundu has been worn for centuries in Kerala and is a part of the region's culture and tradition. It is a practical and comfortable garment, suitable for the hot and humid climate of Kerala. So, next time you visit Kerala, you might see many people wearing mundu, and now you know what it is!
