Music notation

Music notation is like a secret language for musicians. It’s written down on a piece of paper so that a musician can read the notes and know how to play the song or piece of music. Music notation uses symbols to represent different notes and rhythms. For example, there’s a symbol for a high note, a symbol for a low note, a symbol for a long note, a symbol for a short note, and so on. By looking at the music notation, a musician knows which notes to play and when to play them.
