Myth and ritual

Myth and ritual are two different things but they often go together. A myth is a special story from long ago that is often about gods, goddesses, heroes, or ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Myths often explain why things happen in nature or in life. A ritual is a special activity that people do to express their beliefs. They often involve a certain set of customs, rules, chants, or songs and often involve certain physical movements like bowing or clapping. People often do rituals each year or at certain times to remember important things or to thank or honor someone or something. Myths and rituals often go together because the myths will explain why we should do certain rituals and the rituals remind us of the myths.
