ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nanogel

A nanogel is like a tiny jelly-like substance that is so small you can't see it with your eyes. It's made up of many tiny particles called molecules that are all stuck together.

Just like how jelly wobbles and shakes when you touch it, nanogels can also do that too. But because they are so tiny, they can be used for lots of really special things like medicine, cosmetics, and even food!

Nanogels are able to absorb other things and hold them inside. This makes them really useful for delivering medicine to the parts of the body where it is needed most.

When you get a cut or a scrape, the area might be sore and painful. If medicine is put directly on the area, it might not stay in one place long enough to do its job. But if the medicine is put into a nanogel, it can stay in one place longer and give the medicine more time to work.

Nanogels can also be used in cosmetics and beauty products. They can help sunscreen stay on your skin longer, keeping you protected from harmful UV rays. They can even make your skin smooth and soft by trapping moisture!

So, nanogels may be small, but they can do big things to help make our lives better.
