ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nashism

Nashism is a type of economic theory named after John Nash, an influential American mathematician. It proposes that everybody in an economy can be better off if they act in their own self-interest. That means that people should try to get the best deal they can for themselves - if they're smart enough and act in their own best interests, then everyone will benefit. It doesn't matter if someone else is getting a better deal - as long as everyone is doing the best they can, then everybody will benefit more in the long run. In the real world, this encourages people to compete for resources in the market and drives innovation, which often leads to increased productivity and better products.
