Natural selection is a process that helps some types of wildlife survive better than others in their environment. It means that the animals who have qualities that are better suited for their environment will be more likely to have healthy babies, and so their babies will be more likely to survive and pass these qualities on. For example, if an environment is full of brown leaves, then animals with brown fur will be less likely to get seen by predators and so more likely to survive. In this way, the animals with brown fur will be more successful at having babies and those babies will have brown fur too.
