ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Naturalistic planned language

Imagine you want to create a new way of talking to people from different countries, but you want to make it easy for all of them to learn. Naturalistic planned language is when people make up a new language that is easy to learn and understand, but still has its own rules and structure like any other language.

Think of it like building with Legos. You start with basic pieces, like letters and sounds, and then you put them together to create words and sentences. Just like with Legos, there are rules for how you can put these pieces together, so everyone who learns the language can understand each other.

But why make a new language when we already have so many? Well, sometimes it can be hard for people to communicate when they speak different languages. Naturalistic planned languages can make it easier for people to understand each other and work together, even if they come from different parts of the world.

So, just like building with Legos, people can create a new language that is easy to learn and follow, and it can help people communicate better with others from different countries.
