Negative frequency

Ok kiddo, let's talk about negative frequency!

You know how we can count things, like how many toys you have or how many steps you take? Well, frequency is like counting, but instead of counting objects, we count something that happens over time.

For example, we can count how many times a bird chirps in one minute. That's the frequency of the bird chirping.

Now, sometimes we can count things that go backwards instead of forwards. Imagine if you were walking backwards, you would be going in the opposite direction of your forward steps.

Similarly, negative frequency is like counting backwards. Instead of counting something that happens over time in a forward direction, we count something that happens in the opposite direction over time.

But what can we count that goes backwards? Well, scientists and engineers use negative frequency to describe things like radio waves or sound waves that move in opposite directions.

So negative frequency is like counting backwards in time for things that move in opposite directions. Cool, huh?
