Negative search

Okay, imagine you have a big toy box with a bunch of toys inside. Now, let's say you want to find a toy that is NOT a doll. That means you don't want any dolls in your search. So you start looking through your toys and you see a teddy bear, but that's not a doll so that's good. You keep looking and you see a Barbie doll, but you don't want that in your search so you skip it. You keep looking and find a toy car, which is also not a doll, so you keep that in your search. Basically, a negative search means you're looking for everything except the thing you're specifically asking NOT to include in your search. It's like trying to find everything in your toy box except the dolls. Does that make sense?
