ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Negro league baseball

So, a long time ago, people weren't always treated equally, and black people weren't allowed to play baseball in the same leagues as white people. So, they made their own baseball league just for black players called the Negro League. It was a really important league because even though they didn't get as much attention as the white players, they still played really well and showed that black people could be just as good at baseball as anyone else. They had their own teams and played in stadiums all over the country. Even some famous players who later became big stars in the regular leagues like Jackie Robinson got their start in the Negro League. Eventually, when more people started to realize how unfair it was to keep the leagues separate, they started playing together and the Negro League ended. But, it will always be remembered as a really important part of baseball history and civil rights history too.
