ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nemeth Braille

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of braille? It's a special way of writing for people who can't see. Nemeth braille is a type of braille that is used to write math equations and symbols.

So, imagine you want to write the number 5. In regular braille, it's just one dot in the middle of the cell. But if you want to write a math symbol like plus (+) or minus (-), regular braille doesn't have a way to do that. That's why we have Nemeth braille!

Nemeth braille uses some of the same dots as regular braille, but it also has some new ones that are used to make math symbols. For example, the plus symbol is made up of dots three and six, and the minus symbol is dots three and five.

So, with Nemeth braille, people who can't see can still do math problems and write down equations. Isn't that pretty cool?
