Neo-Confederates

Neo-Confederates are people who believe in keeping alive the ideas, beliefs and values of the Confederacy - a group of states in the United States that wanted to become their own country during the American Civil War (1861-1865). They think the Confederate flag (a red, white and blue flag with a blue X and 13 stars) is a symbol of pride, not of hate. They also think that the Confederate army (the army of the states that wanted to leave the United States) was fighting for a good cause. Neo-Confederates don't usually support racism or slavery, but it's important to remember that those things were part of the Confederacy's history.
