Neo-Freudian

Neo-Freudian is a term for psychologists who had ideas about psychology which were based on the ideas of a famous psychologist named Sigmund Freud. They took his ideas and adapted them in different ways. For example, one neo-Freudian believed that people have different parts to their personality that work together but can also cause conflict. Another believed that social relationships and experiences in childhood can shape our behavior and how we see the world. Neo-Freudians argued that understanding our past can help us better understand why we do the things we do today.
