ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nepali language movement

Okay kiddo, so in Nepal, there are a lot of different languages that people speak. But a while back, some people decided that there should be one main language that everyone should use. That language is called Nepali.

Some people disagreed with this idea. They wanted to be able to speak their own language and not have to switch to Nepali all the time. So they started a movement to make sure that their languages would still be respected and used.

It was kind of like when you and your friends argue about what game to play, but instead of just deciding on one, some people wanted to make sure everyone's favorite games were still played too.

The Nepali language movement was important because it made people realize that everyone's culture and language is important and should be respected, even if there is a main language that most people use. So now, Nepal is a place where many different languages are still spoken and valued.
