ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Neptunian desert

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you what a neptunian desert is in simple terms.

Imagine you are in a huge space full of sand and rocks. Some parts of the space have water, but some parts don't have any water at all. The parts without any water are called "deserts."

Well, in space, there are also deserts! But instead of sand and rocks, there are planets. Some planets are called "Neptunian planets" because they are similar to Neptune. These planets are very big and far away from their star.

Now, here's where the neptunian desert comes in: scientists have found that some neptunian planets don't have any water or clouds on them. This means that they are like a desert in space! Just like how some parts of the space have water and some parts don't, some neptunian planets have a lot of water and others don't have any at all.

So basically, a neptunian desert is a planet in space that is very far away from its star and doesn't have any water or clouds on it. Cool, huh?
