Neutral density filter

Okay kiddo, what if when you're out playing in the sun and it's very very bright, you put on sunglasses to help your eyes not get hurt by the sun's brightness?

Well, cameras also have something like sunglasses, but they are called neutral density filters. These filters are like a dark piece of glass that you put in front of the camera lens. They help to reduce the amount of light that goes into the camera, just like how sunglasses reduce the amount of light that goes into your eyes.

Let's say you want to take a picture of a waterfall, but the water is moving so fast that the picture looks blurry. This is because there is too much light going into the camera. But if you put a neutral density filter on your camera lens, it will reduce the amount of light that goes into the camera so that the picture comes out clearer.

So basically, neutral density filters are like sunglasses for your camera. They help to reduce the amount of light that goes into the camera so you can take better pictures in bright light conditions.
