ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nevi'im

Okay kiddo, so let me tell you about nevi'im.

Nevi'im is a Hebrew word that means "prophets". And prophets are special people who talked to God and told people what God wanted them to do.

In the Jewish religion, there is a big book called the Tanakh, which is like their version of the Bible. And the prophets are a big part of it.

The nevi'im are split into two parts: the Former Prophets and the Latter Prophets. The Former Prophets tell stories about the history of the Jewish people and their leaders, like Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings. And the Latter Prophets have books that are written by individual prophets, like Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.

These prophets didn't just predict the future, like a fortune teller. They also talked about how people should live their lives, like being kind to others and following God's commandments.

So basically, nevi'im is a really important part of Jewish history and religion, all about special people called prophets who spoke with God and gave guidance to the Jewish people.
