ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

New Testament military metaphors

Okay kiddo, so sometimes in the New Testament, the authors use words and phrases that are usually used to talk about war and fighting, but they use them to talk about things like faith and living a good life.

For example, they might say things like "put on the armor of God" or "fight the good fight" to encourage people to be strong and brave in following Jesus.

This doesn't mean that they're actually talking about fighting in a war, but rather they're using these words to help people understand how important it is to stay strong and focused on what's right, even when things are hard.

So, just like a soldier would need to be brave and loyal to their country, Christians are encouraged to be brave and loyal to their faith. And just like a soldier would need to be prepared and equipped with the right gear, Christians need to be prepared and equipped with things like prayer and love for others.

Overall, these military metaphors are just a way of explaining how important it is to stay strong and focused on what's right, even when things are tough.
