ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is a special day that comes at the end of the year, when people all around the world get excited to celebrate the start of a brand new year. It's a bit like a birthday for the whole world!

On this day, people might go to parties, dance and sing, eat special foods, and stay up until midnight to watch the clock tick down to the new year. When the clock strikes 12:00, everyone cheers and shouts "Happy New Year!" and may even set off fireworks to celebrate.

Sometimes people also make resolutions, which are like promises they make to themselves to try and do better in the year ahead. For example, they might decide to eat more vegetables, learn a new skill, or be kinder to others.

Overall, New Year's Eve is a time for celebration, reflection, and looking forward to all of the adventures that the new year will bring!
