New Zealand's big things

Hey there kiddo! Have you ever heard of a place called New Zealand? It's a really cool country with lots of interesting things to see, including something called "big things."

Now, you know how you have your favorite toys that you like to play with and look at because they're really big and stand out in your room? Well, in New Zealand, people have created some really big things that you can also look at and admire!

For example, one of the big things in New Zealand is a giant kiwi bird. You know what a kiwi is, right? It's a small bird that can't fly and has a long beak. But the big kiwi in New Zealand is much, much bigger than a real kiwi – like as big as a playground slide! It's made of metal and people can climb up inside of it to look out at the world from the bird's point of view.

Another big thing in New Zealand is a giant carrot. Yes, you read that right – a carrot! The carrot is made of concrete and stands about as tall as a really tall person. It was created as a way to celebrate the city where it is located, which is known for growing lots of carrots. You can pose for pictures with the giant carrot and pretend to take a bite out of it if you want!

There are lots of other big things in New Zealand, too. There's a giant gumboot (that's like a rain boot) that's big enough for people to climb inside of, a giant tuatara (which is a lizard native to New Zealand), and even a giant bicycle!

So, that's what "big things" means in New Zealand. They're just really big versions of everyday objects that people created to make things more fun and interesting. Maybe one day you'll get to go see them for yourself!
