Niche construction

Niche construction is kind of like building your own house, but for animals and plants. Just like how we build houses to suit our needs (like a bedroom to sleep in or a kitchen to cook food), animals and plants modify their environment to suit their needs. For example, beavers build dams to create ponds where they can swim and find food. This changes the environment for other animals and plants living nearby, which can create new habitats and opportunities for survivorship. So, instead of just adapting to their environment, animals and plants can actively change it to better suit their needs.
