ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nightstand

A nightstand is a special little table that you put next to your bed where you can keep things that you might need at night. It's like having a tiny helper that will keep all of your important things within reach so you don't have to get out of bed or ask someone else to help you.

When you go to bed at night, you might want to have a glass of water, a book to read, or an alarm clock to wake up in the morning. These are all things that you can put on your nightstand. The table is usually the same height as your bed, so you can easily reach over and grab what you need without having to get up or put on a light that might disturb others sleeping nearby.

Some nightstands have drawers or shelves so you can keep more things inside of them, like extra bedding or socks. Others might have a little light that you can turn on and off so you can read without needing a big lamp. Some nightstands even have special spots where you can plug in your phone or tablet to charge overnight.

In summary, a nightstand is like a little helper that sits next to your bed and keeps all of the things you might need at night within reach. It's a handy addition to any bedroom!
