ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nipple (plumbing)

Okay kiddo, so have you ever seen a straw or a tube that you can use to drink from? Well, sometimes our bodies have tubes too that let some things go in or come out. Your nose has tubes that let air in and out, for example.

Now, a nipple is a small part of a person's body that sticks out and it's kind of like a tiny tube too. It's located on the chest, on either side of where the heart is.

For grown-ups who feed babies, nipples become very important because they make milk come out from the mommy's body to the baby's mouth. It's kind of like a straw that helps the baby to drink milk!

But sometimes, these nipples can also be used in plumbing. Plumbing is all about how water or other fluids move around in our houses and buildings.

Just like how we need straws or tubes for drinking, sometimes our pipes need these tubes too! When pipes are being installed or repaired, we might use these little tubes called nipples to connect different pipes together. It helps the fluids flow better and stays contained within the pipes.

So there you go, a nipple is a part of a person's body that helps a baby drink milk and it's also a small tube used in plumbing to connect other tubes.
