ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Node-locked licensing

Okay kiddo, have you ever played a game on your computer or tablet that you had to buy first before playing? That's called purchasing a license. It means that you are allowed to play the game because you paid for it.

Now, imagine that the license is locked to only one computer or device. That means you can't play the game on any other devices except the one it is locked to. This is what we call node-locked licensing.

Just think of it like a key that opens a lock. The license key only works on one device, just like the key only unlocks one lock. This is done to make sure that only the person who bought the license can use it on their own device.

So, if you want to play a game or use a software that has node-locked licensing, you need to make sure you are using it on the device that the license is locked to. Otherwise, it won't let you access it because you don't have the right key.
