Noise and vibration on maritime vessels

When you're on a big boat, sometimes you hear noises and feel vibrations. These noises and vibrations come from the engine and other parts of the boat moving around.

The engine is like the boat's heart, helping it move through the water. But just like when you run and your heart beats faster, the engine can make a lot of noise and cause the boat to vibrate when it's working hard.

Other parts of the boat can also make noise and vibrations. For example, the steering system can make a squeaking noise. This is because it has to move a lot to keep the boat going in the right direction.

Sometimes, too much noise and vibration can be bad for the boat and everyone on it. So, people on the boat may try to reduce the noise and vibrations by using special materials to absorb them or by adjusting the engine and other parts.

Overall, noise and vibrations on boats are normal, but too much of them can be uncomfortable or even dangerous, so people take steps to keep them under control.
