ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Normalization (statistics)

Normalization is like playing with numbers to make them easier to compare. Imagine you have three pieces of paper, and on each paper there's a number - 1, 10, and 100. Without Normalization you wouldn't be able to tell if the 1 or the 100 is bigger. But if you normalize them, you could make the numbers look like this: 0.01, 0.1, 1. Now you can easily tell which number is the biggest! Normalization makes it easier to compare different numbers, so you can use them to make better decisions.
