ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Normanton incident

Okay, imagine you are playing with your toys in your room with your friend. Suddenly, your friend accidentally breaks one of your toys. You feel angry and upset, right?

Now, let's imagine something similar but with grown-ups. In Normanton, there was a big problem called the Normanton incident where the police stopped and searched a group of young black men on the street. This made the young men feel sad, angry and they thought it was unfair because they hadn't done anything wrong.

The Normanton incident made a lot of people upset too because they believed that the police should treat everyone fairly and not just judge people based on their skin colour. Just like how a friend should not judge you based on your favourite toy.

The police and the community worked together to make sure that everyone is treated fairly and the Normanton incident doesn't happen again. It's important for everyone to remember that we should treat people kindly and fairly, just like we would like to be treated.
