ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Norris J. Nelson

Norris J. Nelson was an American doctor who helped create an important system to help protect people's health. He believed that it was important to have a good system to make sure people weren't getting sick, so he proposed the idea of having a public health system. This meant that the government would be responsible for making sure that all people had access to things like clean water and fresh food, and that illnesses were taken care of quickly and effectively. Later, he also helped to create medical standards, which made sure that doctors and hospitals were providing safe, good care. Ultimately, Nelson wanted to make sure that everyone had a chance at good health, no matter their background.
