Northern California coastal forests

Okay kiddo, so let's talk about the Northern California Coastal Forests! These are big groups of trees and plants that grow on the coast in Northern California.

To start, these forests have a lot of different types of plants and animals that live together. So just like how we have lots of different friends with different personalities, these forests have different plants and animals with different features too.

One of the biggest and most important plants in these forests is the redwood tree. The redwood tree is really tall and can even be as tall as 30-story buildings! That's super tall! It's also really old and some of the trees can be over 2,000 years old. Woah!

The trees in these forests also help to clean the air we breathe and provide shelter for lots of animals. So think of the trees like big air cleaners and apartment buildings for the animals that live there.

Speaking of animals, some of the animals that live in these forests include deer, coyotes, bobcats, and even mountain lions! They also have lots of birds like owls and hawks.

Overall, the Northern California Coastal Forests are really important to the animals that live there and to us because of the clean air they help provide. It's really cool to think about all the different types of plants and animals that live together in this big forest family!
