Notostraca

Notostraca are little creatures that live in water called "brine shrimp." They are tiny, like the size of a grain of sand and they have a lot of legs. They are also called "shield shrimps" because they have a protective hard plate on their head and can curl up in a ball to protect themselves.

These little creatures eat tiny bits of algae and other small things they can find in the water. They live in salty water, like in salt lakes or the sea. They are really good at surviving in harsh conditions and they can even lay eggs that can survive for a really long time, even if there is no water around.

People sometimes keep these little creatures in aquariums as pets or to study them. They are also used as a food source for some animals because they are really nutritious.
