Novikov self-consistency principle

The Novikov Self-Consistency Principle is a scientific idea which says that it is not possible to change the past (for example, if something happened in the past, it stays the same). This principle also means that time travel can never change what already happened. For example, if you were to travel back in time, you could not change the outcome of something that had already happened - it would be the same as it was before.
