ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nuclear criticality safety

Nuclear criticality safety is a bunch of rules that teach people how to play safely with toys that are made of small bits called atoms. Atoms are like Lego! When you stack them together, they create a bigger toy.

Sometimes, when you put a lot of atoms together, they can create a big explosion that can hurt people. To make sure that people are safe while playing with these toys, people come up with rules that tell us how much of these atoms we can play with and how we should stack them together.

These rules help us make sure that we don't stack too many atoms together or play with them in a way that can cause an explosion. We use these rules to play with our toys safely so that everyone can have fun and nobody gets hurt.

So, nuclear criticality safety is all about learning how to play safely with toys that are made of small bits called atoms!
