ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nuclear or Not?

Nuclear energy is like a really powerful battery that creates heat by splitting tiny particles called atoms. This process is called nuclear fission.

When we have a lot of nuclear energy all in one place, it can create a lot of heat. This heat is then used to make electricity.

Some people like nuclear energy because it doesn't create pollution like burning coal or gas does. Plus, it can create a lot of electricity for a long time without needing more fuel.

But some people don't like nuclear energy because if something goes wrong and the nuclear power plant isn't well-maintained, it can be really dangerous. This is why many places have regulations to make sure the plants are safe for people and the environment.

So, whether to use nuclear energy or not is a big decision that involves weighing the benefits and risks.
