ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nuclear reaction

Nuclear reactions are a bit like how a fire works. When we burn wood, the wood mixes with oxygen and a chemical reaction happens that turns the wood into heat, light, and ash.

In a nuclear reaction, radioactive materials like Uranium mix together and the substances inside them, called atoms, split apart. This releasing a burst of energy which is a lot stronger than the energy released in a fire. The energy released from nuclear reactions is used to generate power in things like power plants.
