Nuclear transmutation

Nuclear transmutation is like a change that happens inside the atoms in the nucleus. A nucleus is made up of tiny particles called protons and neutrons. When the protons and neutrons inside the nucleus change, it is called nuclear transmutation. This usually happens when a particle (like an electron) is added or taken away from the nucleus. When this happens, it changes the type of atom the nucleus is, which gives it different properties.
