ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Numidian cavalry

Numidian cavalry were a group of soldiers who rode horses from a place called Numidia (an ancient North African kingdom). They were really good at riding horses, which was important because they were the army's fast moving group. They were called "cavalry" because they fought from horseback.

Imagine you are playing a game of tag in a big field with your friends. You and your friends are running around and trying to tag each other. But then, one of your friends gets on their bike and starts riding around the field. They are much faster than everyone else and can tag people more quickly. The Numidian cavalry were kinda like that - they were able to ride their horses fast and charge at enemy soldiers quickly. This would make them harder to catch and help them defeat their enemies!
