Nylon riots

Now, during the war, nylon was needed for military uses like parachutes and tents, so there wasn't enough for things like stockings. Women who wanted to wear stockings had to use other materials that weren't as nice as nylon.
Then, in 1945, the war ended and suddenly there was more nylon available. Many women were very excited about this and wanted to buy the new stockings made from nylon. However, because there was still a limited supply of nylon, these stockings were very expensive and not everyone could afford them.
This made some people upset and angry. In some cities, there were riots where people broke into stores that were selling the stockings made from nylon and stole them. This was not good and caused a lot of trouble.
