Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity

The Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (OFHEO) is like a special friend that helps make sure everyone is treated fairly when it comes to finding a place to live. They help people who have been discriminated against because of their race, religion, national origin, sex, familial status or disability.

It's like when you go to play on the playground with your friends, and your teacher makes sure that everyone gets to play and no one is left out. If your teacher didn't do that, some kids might get left out and feel sad.

In the same way, the OFHEO makes sure everyone has the same chances of finding a good place to live. They make sure that landlords can't say someone can't live in their building just because they are a boy or because of the color of their skin.

They also help people with disabilities be able to live in buildings that are safe and accessible for them.

So, the OFHEO is like a helper who makes sure everyone is treated the same when it comes to finding a place to live.
