Omaha Horse Railway
Okay kid, so a long time ago in Omaha, people didn't have many cars to drive around in. Instead, they used something called a horse-drawn carriage to get around. But the thing is, horses can get tired pretty easily and they need time to rest and eat. So, some really smart people decided to build tracks in the ground that the carriages could ride on, and to pull them along they used horses that were specially trained to do this job.
Basically, it looked like a train with horse carriages instead of engines and cars. And this horse-carriage train was called the Omaha Horse Railway. People would hop on the carriages at one stop and then ride it along the tracks to get to their destination. But since the horses couldn't keep going non-stop, there were different "stations" along the way where new horses would be attached to the carriage to keep it moving.
It was a really important way for people to get around the city, and it helped everyone get to where they needed to go faster and easier than if they had to walk or ride in a regular horse-drawn carriage. So, even though we don't use this kind of transportation anymore, it was a really cool innovation at the time!
