ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Open-end spinning

Ok, let's imagine we want to make some yarn - you know, that thing that is used to make clothes. One way to do this is by using a machine called an open-end spinner.

This machine is like a big cylinder with lots of little holes in the end. We put some fibers (like cotton or wool) into the machine and they get mixed up and pulled apart by some spinning rollers inside.

Then, a big fan blows air and takes all the tiny fibers and sends them through those little holes I mentioned before. Finally, these fibers get twisted together into a long thread, which is the yarn we wanted!

So, open-end spinning is a way to make yarn by mixing fibers, pulling them apart, and then spinning them together using air and twisting. It's like magic - but with machines!
