ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Operation Trust

Okay, so imagine you and your friends are playing a game of hide and seek. One of your friends, let's call her Sarah, tells you that she's going to hide in the closet. But instead of hiding, Sarah goes to tell the "it" player where everyone is hiding so that they can be caught easily.

Now, let's imagine that instead of playing hide and seek, we're talking about a big important thing like a country's government. Imagine that there are some people who want to take over the government, but they want to know who else wants to take over with them. So, they make a plan called "Operation Trust."

In Operation Trust, they pretended to be a group of people who also wanted to take over the government. They pretended to plan and organize with others who wanted to take over, but really they were just pretending. The whole time, they were secretly spying on the other people who wanted to take over.

So, instead of really taking over the government, the Operation Trust people were really making sure that the other people who wanted to take over would not succeed. It's like when Sarah pretended to hide in the closet but really told the "it" player where everyone was hiding.

So, Operation Trust was a big plan where some people pretended to want to take over the government to find out who else wanted to take over, so they could stop them.
