Opioid use disorder

Okay kiddo, let me explain what opioid use disorder means.

Have you ever taken medicine when you were sick? Like when you have a headache or a fever? Well, some people take stronger medicine to help with pain when they are hurt, like if they broke a bone or had surgery. These stronger medicines are called opioids.

Now, the problem with opioids is that they can be very addicting. This means that once someone starts taking them, it can be hard to stop. Some people might take too much or take them even when they aren't in pain anymore.

When someone has opioid use disorder, it means that they are addicted to opioids and can't stop taking them. This can be dangerous and can even make them very sick.

So, it's important to be careful with medicine and only take it when a doctor or parent tells you to. And if you know someone who might be struggling with opioid use disorder, they might need help from a doctor or counselor.
