Oppidum

An oppidum is an ancient fortified village. It was a place where people would settle and make their homes, like a city. It would be surrounded by strong walls to protect the people from dangers like enemies or wild animals. Inside the walls of the oppidum, people would build houses, workshops, stores and maybe even a market. It was an early form of a city and it provided protection and safety for the people who lived inside.
