Gord (archaeology)

Gord is a big, old fort that was built a very long time ago! It was built by people who lived a long time ago and it was used to keep bad guys out. They built it using rocks and dirt, and it was surrounded by a big wall to keep everyone safe inside. When people visit a gord today, they can see how big it is and the cool things that were inside it a long time ago. Archaeologists study gord to learn more about the people who lived there a long time ago and what life was like for them inside the fort. It's like looking through a history book, but instead of reading it, we are looking at old rocks and walls!
