Optical vortex

Okay kiddo, you know how when you spin a top really fast it creates a little whirlpool sort of thing? Well, imagine that happening with light! That's what an optical vortex is.

Light normally goes in straight lines, but sometimes twists and turns can make it spiral around like a mini tornado. This makes the light look like it has a little hole in the middle, with the rest of the light curling around it.

Scientists use optical vortices for all sorts of neat things, like super-precise measurements and teleporting information across long distances. It's like having a tiny whirlwind of light that can do all sorts of cool stuff!
