ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Orbital elements

Orbital elements are like the coordinates that tell us where a planet or a satellite (like a moon) is in its orbit around another planet. Each planet or satellite has a set of six numbers that scientists use to help them figure out where it is in space. These six numbers are like longitude and latitude on Earth, but they tell us the size and shape of the orbit and how fast the planet or satellite is going. All of this helps scientists track the planets in our solar system and other satellites in space.
