ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Organized retail crime

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a group of people stealing things from a store at the same time? That's what organized retail crime is! It's when a bunch of people work together to steal lots of things from a store, and they usually sell the stolen items to make money.

Now, organized retail crime can involve all sorts of different things. Sometimes people steal from stores by putting things in their pockets or bags and walking out with them. Sometimes they work together to distract store employees while one person steals something big, like a TV or computer. Other times, they might use special tools like magnet keys to unlock security devices on items like electronics.

Organized retail crime can be really bad for stores, because they lose a lot of money when people steal from them. And it's not just about the money, it's also about safety. People can get hurt or even killed during these kinds of thefts, and that's never good.

So remember, stealing is never okay, and neither is working with other people to steal things. We always have to show respect for other people's property and the rules of stores.
