Orphan train

So, a long time ago, there were a lot of kids who didn't have families to take care of them. They were called orphans. They didn't have parents to love them, buy them clothes or take care of them when they were sick. It made a lot of people feel really sad to see so many kids who didn't have a home.

Then, a lady named Mrs. Charles Loring Brace had an idea. She thought that all these kids needed was a new family, and maybe they could find one if they traveled to different places in America. So she started something called the orphan train.

The orphan train was basically just a long train that traveled around the country, stopping at different towns and cities where people could come and see the orphans. If someone liked a kid, they could take them home and adopt them as their own child.

Sometimes the orphans felt happy because they finally had a family and a place to call home, but other times they felt scared and alone because they were taken away from everyone and everything they knew.

The orphan train helped a lot of kids find new families, but people don't really do it anymore because there are better ways to find families for kids who need them.
