ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Home Children

Home children are boys and girls who were taken away from their parents and sent to live in special homes called orphanages. This happened a very long time ago, back when your grandparents were kids. Sometimes the kids were taken away because their parents were too poor to take care of them, and sometimes it was because their parents were sick or had died.

These orphanages were run by people who wanted to help the children, but sometimes the children were treated very badly. They weren't given enough food, they had to do hard work all day long, and they were punished for things that weren't their fault.

One day, some kind people decided to help the home children. They made sure that the orphanages were taking good care of the kids, and they helped to find new homes for the children where they could be happy and loved. This made a big difference in the lives of the home children, and now they are all grown up and have families of their own.

So even though being a home child was very hard and sad, there were people who cared and tried to make things better for them.
